Every bus reporting to us right now, drawn where it last said it was and coloured by whether it is keeping to its timetable. Hover a bus — or tap one, on a touch screen — for its line, where it is going, the stop it is heading for and how late it is. Narrow it to one operator or one line, or type a fleet number to go and find a particular bus. Nothing here is an average: each dot is one vehicle, one fix.
The map refreshes every 10 seconds, which is as live as the data gets: the poller reads the national feed on the same clock and the buses themselves report roughly every nineteen seconds. A bus drops off when nothing has been heard from it for 10 minutes. Positions are drawn snapped to the road where we have the road geometry to do it, and as reported everywhere else — the snapping is for drawing only, and every figure on the card is measured from the reported position.
